We’re back for another episode! As always, we look for the most interesting stories that need to be told. We are joined by Vincent Calabrese, founder of AHCI, inventor of some of the most famous movements including the Golden Bridge for Corum and the original Blancpain Tourbillon with 8-days reserve as well as the more recent Caroussel Tourbillon.  An icon in the watch industry and a restless creative force, Mr Calabrese joins us to discuss his incredible journey in haute horlogerie.  Mr Calabrese started his watchmaking career at the age of 14. Now, in his late 70's, he has no plans to slow down or stop creating and designing. Listen in to an engaging, open and honest conversation with the assistance of Mr Calabrese's wife as we strive to learn more about one of the most creative and fascinating watchmakers who, more than most, is at the heart and soul of what makes mechanical watches so special and desirable today.

"Deep within me there is a true desire for innovation. I am incapable of limiting myself to what I know, and to surpass myself is still my goal even after a career of nearly sixty years." Vincent Calabrese.

As always, this episode is a free-flowing conversation with minimal editing. This podcast is all about the personalities in the industry and the passion that drives the creativity and desirability of the beautiful products that we all appreciate.

Patrik Sjögren of GoS Watches  joins Keeping Time with Oster Watches Podcast, S5 Episode 2

This episode of Keeping Time Podcast is dedicated to the memory of Micki Oster, who passed away on Feb 17th, 2021.

We’re back for another episode! As always, we look for the most interesting stories that need to be told. We are joined by Swedish watchmaker and CEO of GoS Watches, Patrik Sjögren.  In 2007, Mr. Sjögren formed a partnership with fellow Swede and famed Master Bladesmith, Johan Gustafsson; creating a shared mission to fabricate individual, mechanical timepieces. Each piece respects a deep passion for their respective crafts and for the ancient Scandinavian traditions including the thousand year old technique of welding Damascus steel. We delve into the array of fascinating crafts that combine to fashion the remarkable and distinctive timepieces of this strikingly independent watch company. The latest creation, Norrsken (Northern Lights), is inspired by the beauty of nature as evidenced in the incredible colors of the phenomenal night sky spectacle that can be seen in Northern Europe.  The realization of this ambitious concept is made possible by the collaboration and expertise of a handful of incredibly talented artisans. Each contributor is an expert and innovator in their field. Listen in as we discuss the creation, challenges and unique aspects of this fascinating new Limited Edition timepiece.

As always, this episode is a free-flowing and unedited conversation. This podcast is all about the personalities in the industry and the passion that drives the creativity and desirability of the beautiful products that we all appreciate.

The best way to introduce today's guest, Joshua, is with his own words. After all, writing is Joshua's specialty. Joshua writes that he is, "the resident “nerdwriter” for Quill & Pad where I write weekly articles about the more technical side of watchmaking or just share my passion about a fantastic watch. I revel in the complicated aspects of watch movements thanks to a lifelong love of gears and clever mechanisms. I have a background in model-making, machining, and a history of dissecting anything I could as a child."

That sums it up nicely - thank you Joshua. This podcast explores a wide range of subjects from the history and development of hairsprings to the trends in watchmaking today. We discuss Joshua's background and how he came to write for Quill and Pad as well as exploring how Joshua approaches the topics about which he writes with such eloquence. Please join us for a thoroughly engaging, meandering conversation with a highly unique and individual journalist of exceptional talent. And if you really want to know which watch Joshua really can't stand, it's all in this episode! You'll just have to give it a listen to find out.
